First, let us start by saying we would love to see you! Then, let us proceed to things you might want to know before you head down here.
You will need an up-to-date passport and a copy of our cruising permit. We can email you a copy of the cruising permit.
Please let us know when you are coming - maybe a couple of weeks notice if you can- so we can tell you where we are. Nassau is the big airport, but there are many “puddle jumpers” that can get you closer to wherever we are.
If you do decide to come, be aware that any and all excursions are weather dependent. If the winds and seas are high, we may stay right where we are for a week.
We have linens, but you may want to bring your favorite towel and snorkel gear (at least the mask and snorkel part).
Nights can be cool. A lightweight fleece is a good thing to have.
Please let us know of any dietary restrictions beforehand.
You will be sleeping in the V-berth. If you are a couple, be prepared to not sleep side by side, unless you choose to sleep in the salon. Your choice is privacy (V berth) or a double bed (salon).
We have a composting head for you to use. If this grosses you out, feel free to bring your own sealable bucket. Used toilet paper goes into the garbage can, not in the bowl.
Things are expensive down here! Bring plenty of cash (or cards) for any tchotchkes you may desire to bring back with you.
This will not be a cruise on the Royal Caribbean cruise line. Blue Bonnet is an old girl, and although very comfortable, she is an old girl. She is also our home.
We have limited space onboard. A soft duffle for your clothing and gear is preferable to a large suitcase. Besides, what do you really need besides a bathing suit, sunblock, hat, and polarized sunglasses? (OK, feel free to bring beer and books.)
Please do not bring fancy clothes, hairdryers, or a lot of jewelry. We spend as much time in the water as we can, and we generally are “on the hook,” or anchoring out. We very rarely head out for a night in port.
Water is at a premium. Be prepared to conserve, conserve, conserve. That includes salt-water baths with a freshwater hosedown.
This is not a must, but if you could ask us if we need something from the states, we would greatly appreciate it. We will, of course, reimburse you.
Finally, prepare to relax, have fun, and enjoy some sunshine. You know you deserve it!
